Yorkshire Sculpture Park
Given the amount of times I’ve driven up and down the country, I’m ashamed to say I’d never actually been here before… but you can’t be everywhere at once (wouldn’t it be great if you could!) I’ve seen the sign plenty of times, zooming up and down the motorway, and every time I’ve thought, mmmm, I really must go in there for a look one of these days! Anyway, last weekend I finally got around to going…
A huge park, I think we must have walked about six miles or so, we were there most of the afternoon, wandering around looking at the sculptures. There were the likes of Henry Moore and Anthony Gormley on display as well as a load of people I’d never heard of, and some other people that I had. Some really good, and some not so good, but that was only my opinion!
The park itself is beautiful if you like a hike, there are a few different tracks you can take, there’s also a big lake in the middle of it all and a couple of galleries on site that you can walk to. “Take sandwiches… I bought one there, with a couple of coffees and it was £13…” (Ooooh, how very British of me…. Ha ha)
I totally recommend a day out there to anyone who hasn’t been, and even if you have, they have load of new sculptures coming in for this season… Thumbs up!
